Find out what the online visit includes

A telehealth visit happens over a screen, a call or an exchange of messages. Ask who handles the assessment and how it works.

Say where you will be

Where will you be when the call starts? Your doctor needs that state’s licence or another legal permission that covers your care there. Federal guidance explains this location rule (checked September 26, 2026).

Ask which licence or other permission covers the state where you will sit. If travelling, tell the service your location for that visit.

In some states, an online doctor who works elsewhere can register to offer care without obtaining a full local licence. The conditions vary from state to state (source checked September 26, 2026).

Look for an actual conversation

A form with set questions and answers cannot be the whole medical assessment. A form that changes with your answers can be part of it, if the doctor can ask more questions. The national organisation of medical boards, the state bodies overseeing doctors, gives this guidance (checked September 26, 2026).

Ask how the doctor follows up on your answers. Check that you can raise questions too.

The group also says a doctor should not prescribe just because you picked a treatment from a menu (May 2026 guidance).

These are recommendations for medical boards, not a nationwide law. The rules in each state govern the visit (source checked September 26, 2026).

Plan for an examination elsewhere

Ask who will arrange any test or examination that cannot happen online. The doctor should provide the care you need, arrange it elsewhere or refer you to someone else. The medical-board group recommends this in its policy checked September 17, 2026.

Ask how that handover works. Find out who answers a later question and how to reach them.

Keep the visit and the substance separate

An online visit does not change BPC-157’s approval status. The FDA, which oversees US medicines, had approved no medical use for it in the records checked September 28, 2026.

Discuss the assessment and its possible outcomes before committing to a plan.
