# Understand the substance before the offer

Know what the substance is before looking for someone who offers it.

## A lab-made substance

A peptide is made of tiny parts linked in a short row, rather like beads. The same parts link up to form proteins.

Researchers based lab-made BPC-157 on a small piece of protein they reported in stomach juice.

Being based on a stomach protein does not show that BPC-157 is safe to inject. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gives this warning. It oversees US medicines; its review was checked September 28, 2026.

## The approval answer

BPC-157 had no US drug approval for any use. The FDA also found no approved product in any country in its records checked September 28, 2026.

Ask what approved care addresses the problem that led to the offer.

## What compounding changes

A pharmacist can prepare a particular patient’s medicine, or a doctor can do so; this process is called compounding. It differs from receiving a finished medicine made by a drug company.

Medicines made this way do not have FDA approval. There is no FDA check before sale of whether they help, cause harm or were made well (source checked September 26, 2026).

The rules did not let ordinary pharmacies use raw ingredients to make BPC-157 (checked September 26, 2026).

## What does “nominated but withdrawn” mean?

Some groups asked the FDA to consider letting pharmacies use BPC-157 as an ingredient in medicines they make. The groups then took back those requests. That is what “nominated but withdrawn” means on the FDA page current April 22, 2026.

Taking back a request did not give BPC-157 drug approval or make it legal for pharmacies to prepare it. The legal conditions for using raw ingredients still applied when checked September 26, 2026.

Treat a claim that the list change cleared it for use as a reason to ask for the actual rule.
